These are answers to the most common questions about AI Compurr.
When two products are compared for the first time, AI Compurr stores the result. If the same pair is compared again — by the same shopper or anyone else on your store — the stored result is served instantly, keeping the experience fast and making your monthly usage go further.
Cached results are automatically refreshed whenever the content used to generate them changes, such as an updated product description, a price change, or a change to an included metafield value. This is why AI Compurr counts unique comparisons instead of total comparison runs.
On the Free plan, cached results also reset at the start of each calendar month.
When a shopper opens the compare modal on a product page, AI Compurr automatically surfaces a curated set of products for them to compare against. Those suggestions are pulled from the current product's catalog context and filtered through your visibility rules — such as product type, tag filters, availability, and search scope.
There is no manual recommendation list to maintain. Suggestions update automatically as your catalog, collections, and visibility settings change.
By default, the AI receives each product's title, description, pricing, and available variant options (such as sizes or colors). If a product has multiple variants with different prices, including sale prices, those are included as well.
You can extend this by adding product metafields in AI & Content Settings. Any supported text-based metafield you enable — such as materials, dimensions, or certifications — is passed alongside the description, giving the AI richer context to work with.
Inventory levels, customer data, order history, and images are never sent to the AI.
Comparison cache is cleared. Shopify clears the comparison cache when the app is uninstalled. If you reinstall, all previously cached comparisons will be treated as new unique comparisons the next time shoppers view them, counting against your monthly limit until they are cached again.
App settings are reset. Your configured settings — including product type visibility rules, branding preferences, and AI content settings — are reset on reinstall. You will need to reconfigure them before the compare button becomes active on your storefront again.
Paid plan billing. If you are on a paid plan, you will need to go through Shopify's billing approval process again upon reinstall. You should not be charged again if you reinstall during an active billing period. See Shopify's documentation on app billing for more details.
